Songs from Here

by Ardú

/
  • Compact Disc (CD) + Digital Album

The physical version of our newest studio album, Songs from Here.
In addition to the CD, the case features the original artwork of Lynn MacPherson, a printed list of tracks and a dedication to our closest fans and followers.

"Songs from Here" is Ardú's latest studio album dedicated to Irish music. Featuring original arrangements written for and performed by the singers of Ardú, the tracks offer a bit of something for everyone. The album truly is an ode to Irish music, Irish artists and Irish culture, emphasising its diversity through a choice selection of popular contemporary songs by Irish artists, covers of songs by up-and-coming Irish singer-songwriters, as well as new versions of traditional Irish tunes. It was recorded in late 2021 and early 2022.

We are grateful to the wonderful tradition of songwriting in Ireland which inspired the essence of this album. In particular Van Morrison, Kodaline, Carl Corcoran, Suzanne Savage, Declan O'Rourke, Eoin O'Callaghan, B*witched and James Kelly.

We would like to extend a warm thanks to our Patreon community who have continually supported us in 2022 and have significantly contributed to the album's creation, with a special shout-out to our top-tier Patrons Maureen and Gary Warwick, Alan Kelly and Deirdre Michael.

When it's not always raining there'll be days like this When there's no one complaining there'll be days like this When everything falls into place like the flick of a switch Well my mama told me there'll be days like this When you don't need to worry there'll be days like this When no one's in a hurry there'll be days like this When you don't get betrayed by that old Judas kiss Oh my mama told me there'll be days like this When you don't need an answer there'll be days like this When you don't meet a chancer there'll be days like this When all the parts of the puzzle start to look like they fit Then I must remember there'll be days like this When everyone is up front and they're not playing tricks When you don't have no freeloaders out to get their kicks When it's nobody's business the way that you wanna live I just have to remember there'll be days like this When no one steps on my dreams there'll be days like this When people understand what I mean there'll be days like this When you ring out the changes of how everything is Well my mama told me there'll be days like this Oh my mama told me There'll be days like this Oh my mama told me There'll be days like this Oh my mama told me There'll be days like this Oh my mama told me There'll be days like this

I wouldn't be who I am, without you I wouldn't sing the way I sing, without you You fill my eyes up with colour And you'll always be my mother I wouldn't be who I am I wouldn't be the son that I am Without a father who showed me I can Face all the bullies at school You taught me how to keep my cool I wouldn't be who I am I wouldn't be the brother I am Without a sister who understands My ambitions and dreams We always were on the same team I wouldn't be who I am Without the people We don't see no more And all the imperfections on my skin The family tree, with its branches around me Oh, I just wouldn't be who I am I wouldn't be who I am I wouldn't be the human I am Without the friends that let me fly and help me land Our foundations go deep I'll always have a place to sleep I wouldn't be who I am

Morning light streams softly through my window Through the night I've prayed for peace within Hear the planet cry it's gentle heart still beating Holding tight to feel the power of love From deep within I feel my spirit stronger Unknown until it is our only choice No greater power for change Than knowing what we care for We begin to feel the power of love We band together with common purpose Bring healing to a wounded world We stand together, changed forever Rising from the ashes of who we used to be To feel the power of love Through my day I treasure sights of wonder Each one displays compassion to the fore No single kindly act, however small is wasted And so we pray to feel the power of love We band together with common purpose Bring healing to a wounded world We stand together, changed forever Rising from the ashes of who we used to be To feel the power of love To feel the power of love

Found myself outside your door And it hit me: What am I here for? Thought I'd caught your laughter there Oh like something trapped under a star But I don't come here anymore And I noticed I don't miss you at all What if we met face to face? Yet you're miles away in your own place What if I cried when you left? Said some things just better left unsaid? What if I wonder, if only matter of fact What if I wonder, did you ever look back? Don't you wanna know how I am? Don't you wanna know 'bout those plans? Cause I remember one time When it wasn't always bad So you can be free You can be what you wanted to be But don't you know that sometimes Life gets cold when you do it on your own And it was stupid of me To think that you could fill the pieces I lack You were too blind to see Past your passion, to ever look back There's a wheel keeps turning Turns to burn you up Where you end up see; I still wish you luck What if I cried when you left? Said some things just better left unsaid? What if I wonder, if only matter of fact What if I wonder, did you ever look back? Don't you wanna know how I am? Don't you wanna know 'bout those plans? Cause I remember one time When it wasn't always bad So you can be free You can be what you wanted to be But don't you know that sometimes Life gets cold All of these words unsaid All the best plans are never laid What if I wonder, late at night? What if I wonder, was I right? Don't you wanna know how I am? Don't you wanna know 'bout those plans? Cause I remember one time When it wasn't always bad So you can be free You can be what you wanted to be But don't you know that sometimes Life gets cold when you do it on your own

Galileo 03:41
Who puts the rainbow in the sky? Who lights the stars at night? Who dreamt up someone so divine? Galileo fell in love as a Galilean boy And he wondered what in heaven, who invented such a joy But the question got the better of his scientific mind And to his blind and dying gaze He looked up high and often sighed And sometimes cried Who puts the rainbow in the sky? Who lights the stars at night? Who dreamt up someone so divine? Someone like you and made them mine? Love can make you ask some funny questions now and then But just remember the alternatives for I remember when I was lonely and unhappy And my lips were cold as ice But you kissed me and good heavens Now I'm here in paradise So if ever I'm not kissing you or looking in your eyes I won't be blind and I won't cry I'll look up high and gladly sigh And thank the guy Who puts the rainbow in the sky? Who lights the stars at night? Who dreamt up someone so divine? Someone like you and made them mine? And made them mine? Galileo, Galileo, Galileo fell in love

Fire 03:59
I sleep in my clothes, in case he arrives when I'm dreaming He's got nothing to hide, his life ain't got no hidden meaning And I'll hold you tight, and I'll wake you if I hear him callin' Cause I sleep in my clothes as soon as the snow stops fallin' Is it gonna rain, is it gonna snow? How're we gonna now if he gets here? Is it gonna rain, hurricane? How're we gonna know if he's alive? Is it gonna snow, gonna rain? Who we gonna blame for the sunshine? Will he get my mail through the hail, Does he even know that we're alive? I sleep in my clothes, in case there's a fire when I'm dreamin' I got nothing to hide, my life ain't got no hidden meaning And I'll hold you close, and I'll wake you if smoke stops you breathin' Cause I sleep in my clothes, in case there's a fire when I'm dreamin' Is it gonna rain, is it gonna snow? How're we gonna now if he gets here? Is it gonna rain, hurricane? How're we gonna know if he's alive? Is it gonna snow, gonna rain? Who we gonna blame for the sunshine? Will he get my mail through the hail, Does he even know that I'm alive? He can tell that I'm lying awake even though I ain't moving And the beat of your heart in my ear keeps love alive And to tell you the truth, all I'm thinking about is fire Is it gonna rain, is it gonna snow? How're we gonna now if he gets here? Is it gonna rain, hurricane? How're we gonna know if he's alive? Is it gonna snow, gonna rain? Who we gonna blame for the sunshine? Will he get my mail through the hail, Does he even know that I'm alive? He can tell that I'm lying awake even though I ain't moving And the beat of your heart in my ear keeps love alive And to tell you the truth, all I'm thinking about is fire Is it gonna rain, is it gonna snow? How're we gonna now if he gets here? Is it gonna rain, hurricane? Is it gonna snow, gonna rain?

I wish I was in Carrickfergus Where the castle looks out to sea I would swim over the deepest ocean For my love to be with me But the sea is wide and I cannot swim over Nor have I the wings to fly I wish I had a handsome boatman To ferry me over, my love and I I wish I was in the land of Eire Where the mountains reach the sea Where flowers blossom as I do remember Where my true love came to me But the sea is wide and I cannot swim over Nor have I the wings to fly I wish I had a handsome boatman To ferry me over, my love and I Oh I wish I was in Carrickfergus To be together, my love and I

Rain fell down You were there I cried for you when I hurt my hand Storm a-rushing in Wind was howling I called for you, you were there Whenever dark turns to night And all the dreams sing their song And in the daylight forever To you I belong Beside the sea When the waves broke I drew a heart for you in the sand In fields where streams Turn to rivers I ran to you, you were there Whenever dark turns to night And all the dreams sing their song And in the daylight forever To you I belong To you I belong To you I belong
10.
No I won't turn my back on you When the call of a brother In need is heard When there's a prayer to be answered And all you feel is hurt I will lend you a shoulder I will lend a helping hand No I won't turn my back on you When your world has been shattered In pieces on the ground When your spirit has been broken And a friend just can't be found I will offer you comfort I will answer your call No I won't turn my back on you No I won't turn my back No I won't turn my back on you Though your days may seem darker And the clouds are hanging low If we face it together Then our spirit's light will grow And it will shine from within And light our way No I won't turn my back on you When you're worried There's one thing that you should know I'll never leave you To face this world alone Oh no I won't turn my back No I won't turn my back on you No I won't turn my back No I won't turn my back on you No I won't turn my back No I won't turn my back on you
